God, it's great to be alive on Earth again today!

I am Robert Dan Dell and I live in Santa Clarita, CA. I moved here in 1995 from America's #1 city to live in , Gainesville, Florida. You may recognize this as the home of the Fighting Gators, the University of Florida, and the notorious "Swamp", in which few football opponents have survived. In 2006 and 2007 the Gators defeated all rivals to become National Champs, twice in Basketball, and the second time in Football. As dedicated Alumni, my wife Kay and I are proud that our son Phillip got his Business Administration degree there as well.

Gainesville is the surprising number-one city in the newly published Cities Ranked & Rated, 2nd Edition for 2008.

As a Sr. Development Engineer, I have designed long life rechargeable batteries for satellites and medical devices. Since I helped provide the battery power to communicate with the Viking Lander spacecraft, there is a plaque landed on Mars with my name on it. A rechargeable battery I helped design and manufacture was implanted into thousands of patients in the early 1970's, and nearly 1,000 are still living because of that device. A sister company has a product working that enables totally deaf persons to hear again. It is very rewarding to be able to help others in this way, as my mother was deaf since before my birth.

As Manufacturing/Process Engineer, I am developing a micro-implantable stimulation device that will help alleviate a number of human physical ailments, including paralysis, sleep apnea, pain control, incontinence, facial palsy, vertigo, spasticity control, spinal cord injuries, and many others. This device stimulates nerves or muscles to achieve the desired response. I have moved from Aerospace (outer space) to implantation (inner space), thus the logo above, "From Beyond to Within", which has many levels of meaning for me.
Long life is particularly interesting to me, so I attend the Los Angeles Gerontology Research Group, which has monthly meetings in at UCLA. See LAGRG.

This is dedicated to the most cherished people in my life, Kay, Jennifer and Phillip. Without them life would cease to have meaning for me. With them, I have more than I could ever have hoped for.
